So the story behind our proposal....Zach and I had done things a little backwards...We had been dating for almost a year and a half and Zach's sister Keeley had been living in Utah for the past few months. They were planning on moving back to Washington and we had really wanted Keeley to take our engagement pictures for us. So my sweet little boyfriend called me telling me that we would need to get pictures taken that coming weekend if we wanted to have Keeley take them. Needless to say I panicked! I didn't have anything to wear, I needed a tan, wanted to lose weight, did I really know I should get married or should I run away? Far far away...and the list went on. Zach was very supportive and patient and kept reassuring me that it would all be ok, so with the help of friends and family I took the leap of faith! Keeley took me shopping for clothes, I hurried and scheduled a hair appointment, and got a spray tan. I am so glad that I did because Keeley took some amazing pictures! So on to us actually getting engaged "after" our engagement pictures. June 13, 2014 was one of the best days. When I got off of work Zach told me that we were going out to dinner with Summer, Dave, and the kids to The Pizzeria and that after we were going out to their property to let Dave shoot a new gun he had gotten. We went to dinner and then headed out. We started driving to their property and Summer and Dave said they would be right behind us after getting the kids loaded up. Zach hopped out of the truck to open the gait and said he had to pee (romantic right). Little did I know he had gone behind the tree not to go to the bathroom, but to call his parents and let them know we were here! We drove down to the river and when we got out I remember thinking Zach's hands were really sweaty haha. When I walked to the edge of the hill I looked down and by the river I saw the most romantic set up with roses and rose petals, Zach's guitar, and cut out in paper tied with string the words "Hey Pretty Girl." When I saw it I jumped into his arms and started freaking out! He lead me down to the water and had me sit on one of the logs. He proceeded to tell me about when we were first dating and I had told him about how much I loved the song Hey Pretty Girl by Kip Moore. That day I had asked him to learn it for me and he had told me it would be too hard to play...little did I know he had started learning it that night, and here he was a year and a half later singing it for me. After the song he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him for time and all eternity! I am so grateful for this man! I am so grateful for the patience he had to date me for a year and a half, for the patience he had to love me when I felt unlovable, and to love me in a way I could have only dreamed to be loved.
